1/8th Electric.

Hello All,
I have got myself a x-mas, a 8ight 2.0 and fitted the e-conversion. I am running a 6S lipo softpacks, how heavily do you man this at club days?
Have you had many electric 1/8th race?
How many people are willing to race there brushless 1/8th scales, I know a lot of people have them but are they coming out to the track this year?

Hi there.

1/8th scale sparkies have not really hit the tracks very hard so far. There are a couple who run at Sunshine and Josh has threatened to run his up here. It is more a matter of being the leader getting yours on the track first, then the other guys will follow you.

As far as Castlemaine is concerned, we will happily run them in with the nitros until we have sufficient (4) numbers to run them in a class of their own. Plus it would be good to see them running against the nitros to see who really is the fastest.

See you here in February?

Cheers

Glenn

Thanks Glenn,
I ran with the Sportsman buggies at Sunshine for the Nitro-X round, Right then and there I decided the old very worn RC8e needed to be replaces. For X-mas I got myself the 8ight 2.0 from my LHS and moved the electrics. Now I'm ready to race as much as I can fit in my social MX racing schedule.
There are a lot that have them but never bring them to race day, I am hoping people will follow. They are competitive with the Nitro's for 15-20 minutes but a battery change for longer Mains may lose a podium.

So far Feb 7th is free, so I should be there. Is the track usually open Saturday before race day? Is there a key policy for members, I may join?

Thanks again,
Michael.

Hi Michael.

Key to the track is available for members. There is no strict protocol regards the Saturday before race day. You can use the track if we are not working on it, I guess.

Cheers

Consider me a member, I was asking Saturdays before race so I could get some temp readings on the motor and electrics according to track. I may even bring the 1/10th 2wd up for a play during practice. Over the weekend I geared up the 8ight from 12T to 15T and cleared a 60foot peak-to-peak double at a friends home motorcross track. Can't wait for the races I can make it to. What track work are you normally doing? I've been helping a lot at Knox.

It would be great to have you on board Michael.

Track work? Just the normal sort of stuff to keep the surface up to scratch, watering, rolling, patching. The track generally does not need a lot of work, but we will be on the job this Sunday. The super dry weather broken up by severe downpours of rain have not been doing the track any favours.

We redid the top of the straight last weekend and this Sunday we plan to fix up the downhill section onto the straight and sweeten up the up ramps on the jumps. Plus wippersnipping.

Cheers

I'm getting a little excited about next weekend. Not only is it the first with the 8ight-e, but it is the first time at a new track.
What time do the gates open? (I am still testing temps and run times)
Will I be thrown in with Sportsman?

Wooh,
Michael.

Hi Michael.

Gates are open at 8.00am, registrations from 9.00am and racing starts at 10.00am.

Track is looking sweet after we finished work on it today. Many thanks to Peter, Trav, Tim and Matt.

Sportsman? Depends if you want to hack in sportsman or if you reckon you can run clean in the pros.

Cheers

I'll aim for 8am then and be there my 8:30 knowing me.
Yes, big thanks to all the workers. I understand how much work it is and how much a simple thank you means.
Do ''Pro'' run 30min? Would we be able to borrow a transponder and run a few laps before racing start to compare lap times and choose class from that?

Thanks.

If we get a good turn up on the day so that pit men are available, Pro will run 10 mins, otherwise all nitro classes will run 8 mins.

I think we should be able to set up a practice session before racing. It is more a matter of how well you steer. We will work it out on the day though.

Cheers

How many rounds do you do? If it is only a 8-10min final I'll try mix it with Pro Buggy. I get 20min pretty easy, 25min if all go's right.

We run four or five rounds, depending on numbers. Big fields in any class will see finals run.

1/8th Electric.

Hello,
It looks like I may be able to make it to racing on Sunday with the Electric 8ight (This depending on final MX riding plans) With a new motor, the new V3 rotor and batteries charged I am ready to test for a 30minute run on one 4000mah pack.
At Shepparton I was informed on sign that some Sportsman buggy drivers would like me pointed separately. I can understand were they are coming from and it may be something to continue Vic wide. I would really like to run in with Pro buggy even pointed separately, but don't know if this would be welcomed.

Hope to see you there,
Michael.
